AN IMPORTANT AND FINE PAIR OF MALACHITE-MOUNTED MARQUETRY CABINETS, each with an arched mirror crest-ing surmounted by a gilt-bronze inter-laced monogram above a female mask, flanked by pearwood putti, the red marble top above outset canted columns with elaborately carved purpleheart and gryphon supports with pearwood sup-ports, flanking a cupboard door, one applied with a copper electrotype panel entitled Musica, the other entitled Poesia, held by fine marquetry and ivory inlaid arrangement of foliage and flowers, on gadrooned bun feet, the columns applied with malachite bosses, ISl by 34|in; 200 by 88cm, c. 1865.
Among the numerous woods used in this exceptionally fine pair of marquetry cabinets are the following: walnut, chestnut, box, pear, purpleheart, holly, syca-more and amboyna.
